Bethany Trowers – Director, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, & Small/Petite Ballet Instructor

Bethany began dancing at the age of three and has trained in many styles including ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, and modern.  Through her years training, Bethany was a competitive dancer winning many overall high scoring and special awards for outstanding technique and stage presence, in group and solo performances.  During high school Bethany was also a National Cheerleading Association All-star, and a COA National Champion.  Bethany graduated from New York University with a major in history and minor in law & society. While at NYU she was a member of the school’s step team, One Step Ahead, and Pulse Dance Project dance team, with Tisch School of the Arts.  She continues to study at Steps On Broadway, Broadway Dance Center, and numerous conventions throughout the tri-state area.  She is Level III certified with Dance Educators of America, and her choreography has won many overall high scoring, and special awards.  Bethany is passionate about pushing her students to their highest potential and sharing her love of dance with them.

Janette Rawls – Ballet Instructor

Janette Rawls holds a B. F. A. in Dance from Belhaven University.  Her training includes summer intensives at American Ballet Theatre and the American Dance Festival. In addition to her dance studies, she worked on technical crews for Pilobolus, Martha Graham Dance Company, and Paul Taylor Dance Company as a stagecraft apprentice. Janette started her professional career in Kansas City with Stӧrling Dance Theater, performing in the large productions Underground and The Little Match Girl. In Houston, Janette danced with Earthen Vessels: Sandra Organ Dance Company and appeared as a guest artist with FrenetiCore, Jhon Stronks, and for several commercial dance and modeling projects with Dance Houston. Janette performed with Catapult on international tour after their feature on “America’s Got Talent.” Janette has ten years of teaching experience including teaching at the collegiate level, for summer intensives, and in performing arts schools. She is certified in Stott® Pilates and holds an ABT® National Training Curriculum teacher certification in primary through level five. Janette currently teaches in the New York/New Jersey area, writes dance reviews for NYC 10, and serves as the administrative director for Emotions Physical Theatre.

Shannon Grant – Ballet Instructor

Shannon Grant is a professional dancer who has performed throughout the United States and internationally with companies including Ballet de Printemps, City Ballet of San Diego, Ballet New England, Media City Ballet, BalaSole, Ballet Magique, David Taylor Dance Theatre, Scottish American Ballet and in the Ovation award winning musical Shag With a Twist.  Shannon danced in music videos for bands including Velvet Revolver, Avenged Sevenfold, Dame Fortune and more as well as in commercials and fashion shows. Original roles have been choreographed for her in the “Cellist”, “Mystique”, “First Bitten” and “Shake” in the Ovation Award winning musical “Shag With a Twist”. She has attended many programs including Joffrey, New York, the Vagonova Festival, Colorado Ballet, Rotaru International, Balllet Intensive from Moscow, Los Angeles Classical Ballet, Fairbanks Fine Arts Festival, San Diego Ballet, and the Salzburg Ballet of Austria. Shannon began her ballet training as a young girl with Anatoly Sisman and additional training with Linda Yourth in San Diego; later with Marat Daukayev and Hasmik Amirian in Los Angeles; and after moving to New York, she continued her training with Kirill Matveev, and currently trains at Steps on Broadway and Ballet Arts.   Although Shannon’s first love is performance, she enjoys sharing her knowledge of dance through teaching both children and adult ballet classes. She has taught ballet in Los Angeles and New York.  She graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor’s in American Studies and holds an Associates with Honors in Business Administration.

Shar Adrias – HipHop Instructor

Shar has been dancing in her living room since she was 12.  She began training professionally at broadway dance center at the late age of 19.  Her stage credits include KTU’s beatstock, Ryan leslie promo tour, and the VMA’s with Ludacris.  Her choreography for music video include Jenn Cuneta and Punjabi artist G-deep featuring Capadonna of Wu Tang Clan.  She also edited numerous videos for G-Deep, including “Nach Le” as she owns her own production company as well.  She also shot and edited Japanese recording artist Jonte’s “Ya Rude.”

Shar won an award for best hip hop choreographer in Westchester.   Her 2011 piece, “numb” won best choreographer in local competition as well as nationals.

Shawn Rawls – Boys Breakdancing Instructor

Shawn began dance training with the Y.A.R.D. (Youth At Risk Dancing) and graduated as a double major in dance and visual art from Cleveland School of the Arts. He holds a B. F. A. in performance and choreography from Belhaven University. Shawn studied at the American Dance Festival and worked on backstage crews for the Martha Graham Company, Pilobolus, Bill T. Jones, Paul Taylor and others. Shawn has performed with over a dozen shows and dance companies throughout the United States and abroad including Pilobolus, the Roxey Ballet, Abarukas, the Chicago Lyric Opera, Catapult from “America’s Got Talent,” the Aluminum Show, Monster Energy Drink and the Roots, and Culture Shock. As a freelance choreographer for more than five years, he recently won the first round of NYC XYZ choreography competition and placed runner up in the final round. His work has been chosen as a part of NYC 10 dance festival. He has been commissioned to set work on professional companies like the Roxey Ballet and Dancing Wheels. Shawn is the founder and artistic director of Emotions Physical Theatre, a dance company that performs in New York and around the United States. The company’s premiere performance at the Houston Fringe Festival earned the award “most innovative idea” for the 45 minute show “Process.” Shawn’s choreographic work is an organic blend of contemporary dance with hip hop, ballet, gymnastics and breakdance. He creates work to bridge the gap between art and entertainment with works that thought provoking, fun, and captivating.
